Police: Man calls 911, attacks responding officers

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Police in southern New Jersey say a disoriented man who called 911 for help has been charged with assaulting four officers who responded.

Gloucester Township police say officers were met Sunday evening by a man believed to be under the influence of a narcotic who was standing on a staircase in a townhome, sweating and yelling incoherently.

Police say 28-year-old Ibrahim Dao displayed abnormal strength when he picked up 1 of the officers and slammed him into a table.

Officers used pepper spray, but Dao allegedly assaulted three more officers as he was being handcuffed.

The officers were treated for minor injuries.

Dao was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and obstruction. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer. He is due in court March 5.
