Father Charged With Murder In 2-Month-Old's Death

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -

Prosecutors announced Tuesday that a Montgomery County father now faces a murder charge in the death of his 2-month-old baby.

Police had already arrested 28-year-old Edward J. Doyle, of Upper Moreland, in connection with the death of his daughter over the weekend.

Doyle told police he was out drinking, and when he came home, he heard his daughter crying. When he grabbed her out of swing-set, he says he tripped, fell on the baby and killed her. His wife was down the hall when it happened.

The murder charge was announced Tuesday after prosecutors received a medical examiner's ruling on the death.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman's office said at a morning news conference that investigators found multiple skull and rib fractures on the baby girl.

Doyle is now charged with third-degree murder, endangering the welfare of children and unsworn falsification.

Court documents indicate that Doyle has been denied bail and next faces a March 8 preliminary hearing.
