Poll: Quinn leads NYC Democratic mayoral pack

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - A new poll finds New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn continues to gain steam in the Democratic primary for mayor.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Quinn could get 37% of the vote. It says she would need 40% to avoid a runoff election.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is next, with 14%. Former City Comptroller William Thompson has 11% and current Comptroller John Liu (loo) has 9%.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,017 New York City voters from Feb. 20 to Feb. 25. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 (3.1) percentage points.
