NY teen dies aboard cruise ship

Posted: Updated:

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Officials with Carnival Cruise Lines have confirmed that a high school senior from upstate New York died while on a cruise with his family.

A spokesman for the Miami-based company told Albany-area media outlets Wednesday that 18-year-old Seth Younes died around 3 a.m. Tuesday during an eight-day voyage aboard the Carnival Miracle, which arrived in New York City later that day.

The cruise to the Bahamas began Feb. 18, when the teen was on winter break from Saratoga Springs High School.

The cruise ship company says the cause of the teen's death hasn't been determined, but no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy on Younes was conducted Wednesday by the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A spokeswoman says the autopsy results were inconclusive.
