ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

It's bound to be an amazing journey, and it's all for a great cause.

Dave Brown is walking across the country in memory of his wife, Joan, who died from ovarian cancer in 2011.

Brown's goal is to walk nearly 3,000 miles from Atlantic City to California.

He intends to walk 14 miles each day and should finish on Oct. 12th in San Francisco.

Brown has already raised over $4,000 for research. His goal is to raise $110,000, with all proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

You can follow Dave on his journey or donate by visiting his website, www.ocjoan.blogspot.com.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney was live in Atlantic City on Thursday morning as Brown got ready to start his trek.
