TACOMA, WA -

A Washington State mom told her daughter not to do her homework assignment because she felt it taught children to discriminate.

The assignment asked students to match an image that best described a word. But one of the words on the assignment was the word "fat."

Mom Whitney Smith says her 5-year-old daughter came home from school on two different nights with a similar assignment where she was asked to define the word fat.

Whitney says her mouth dropped when she saw the assignment.

She went to her daughter's school with the assignment in hand and expressed her concern to a receptionist.

Whitney believes something this simple can have damaging effects on young kids.
