PHILADELPHIA -

Police say the grandson of a 94-year-old home invasion victim was one of two taken into custody Sunday after the woman was found duct taped and beaten Sunday morning.

According to police, a man robbed a home on the 2800 block of Unruh Avenue in the city's Mayfair section around 10:30 a.m.

Police say the man took jewelry and other items that included the victim's purse. They were  later recovered in a trash can in the garage of the grandson's  home on the 3200 block of Tyson.

FOX 29's Omari Fleming reports police have arrested two men, including the woman's grandson. According to police, the grandson allegedly was going to be driving the getaway car after the friend robbed his grandmother.

Police say the robbery suspect busted into the elderly woman's home, threatened her with a syringe-like tool, then assaulted and robbed her.

One of the suspects was chased by a neighbor after the incident. Another neighbor and her boyfriend say they were the ones to find the victim tied up.

"She was laying on the floor, duct tape hanging off her and screaming 'help, help,'" William Lewis told FOX 29.

Police say the woman was bruised but is expected to be okay and will stay in the hospital overnight for observation.

Investigators say the woman's med-alert necklace helped them track the crooks quickly. When they called out of town relatives they told police they may want to check with the woman's 27-year-old grandson. Police say he and his friend have a history of drug charges. They say the grandson has also borrowed money from his grandmother before and didn't return it.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
