CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
A masked man boards the bus. Moments later, he tases and robs the CTA driver before taking off. The frightening scenario played out Saturday morning near an Austin neighborhood bus stop on West Jackson. Sunday, another CTA driver on the same route tells Fox 32 News he doesn't feel safe.
"This is just crazy, I didn't know anything about that though… It's kind of dark around here. We get a little time to sit but I just hope everything will be ok," said Chris Smith.
Smith has worked for the Chicago Transit Authority since 2008. He describes the protocol to report suspicious riders and activity.
"We have a sound the alarm button that we are supposed to push and hopefully the police come in time," said Smith.
Though the 40 year old victim likely never saw it coming.
Police say it was 7:30am Saturday when the suspect used a stun gun and then robbed her.
A passerby discovered the victim slumped over the steering wheel and called police.
One CTA driver who wants to remain anonymous says the attack is another reminder that drivers must be careful and extra cautious.
"There's some pretty angry people out here and there is just misdirected hostilities, that's all," said the CTA driver.
