Michigan's billionaires: Gilbert, Ilitch, Ford all make the list

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Forbes magazine says Richard DeVos is Michigan's wealthiest resident and one of 10 billionaires living in the Great Lakes state.

According to Forbes latest annual tally of billionaires around the world, the 87-year-old co-founder of the Amway Corporation is worth $5.7 billion.

Locally, Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert is that state's third wealthiest with a net worth of $3.5 billion. Pizza mogul Mike Ilitch and his family rank sixth with a net worth of $2.7 billion. Energy drink founder Manor Bhargava ($1.5B) and Ford Motor Co.'s William Ford, Sr. ($1.25B) are also on the list.

Mexico's Carlos Slim remains the world's richest man for the fourth year in a row, while Warren Buffett dropped out of the top three for the first time since 2000.

A record 1,426 people around the world made the Forbes list, up 16 percent from last year. Their average net worth was $3.8 billion, rising 3 percent from 2012.

    48-year-old Keith Andersen retired in February from the Grosse Pointe Police Department. On June 21, he was involved in a roll over accident where he suffered a broken neck. As of now Keith has no movement in his the lower half of his body. The Fraternal Order of Police, Grosse Pointe Lodge 102 is holding a fundraiser for Keith on Aug 5th.
