Voluntary Evacuation Recommended For Long Beach Township Residents

OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. -

Police in Long Beach Township, New Jersey are recommending a voluntary evacuation of some ocean front homes due to the threat of flooding, snow and high wind.

The recommendation was issued on the police department's website on Wednesday.

Several areas along the Jersey Shore are under coastal flood and high wind warnings.

The recommended voluntary evacuation is for ocean front homes from 72nd Street in Brant Beach to 84th Street in Brighton Beach along with ocean front homes in Holgate.

Police say they expect flooding along parts of Long Beach Boulevard on the south end of the island Thursday as the storm makes its way through.

Police also recommend residents move their cars to higher ground in the impacted areas.
