Parents Face Traffic Violations For Picking Up Kids From School

No parking signs, like these, were recently placed around the school.
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -
Parents of one Bucks County elementary school say they are getting ticketed while they pick their kids up from school.
Parking was banned in front of Walter Miller Elementary School in Levittown after some people in the neighborhood complained about the traffic.
The Neshaminy School District has scaled back bus service in three neighborhoods surrounding the elementary school due to budget cuts, but now the traffic around the school when classes let out is so bad that no-parking signs went up around the building last year, FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito reports.
The Gullicks are one of many families fighting against the new no parking zones and dodging tickets at Walter Miller.
The Gullick family lives 1.5 miles from the school, which means under state law, their 10-year-old fourth-grader is old enough to walk that distance home.
The Neshaminy School District director of operations says a new parking lot would cost $250,000.
This is money that the district couldn't justify last year since it was considering closing Walter Miller. Now, the district says Walter Miller will stay open.
The parking lot could be part of next year's budget, or the school might try to share parking with a nearby church.
But some parents believe that the solution is even simpler: busses.
Some parents say the busses drive right past their homes while going to drop off other students that live farther out.
Middletown Township officials were not available for comment by the time our story aired.
