UPDATE: Missing Service Dog Found In Berks County

Posted: Updated:
WYOMISSING, Pa. -

A missing service dog that ran off during the commotion when its owner fell and injured herself has been found in Berks County.

Volunteers had been searching for "Finley" since the pup went missing on Tuesday night.

The golden retriever disappeared when its owner, Denice DeAntonio, fell outside a Wyomissing shopping center.

Four years ago, DeAntonio suffered a stroke that impaired her motor skills, and she waited 18 months to get Finley. She only had the dog for a short period of time before he ran away.

Searchers had already found Finley's identification packet in the woods.

The search was called off overnight, although some traps were set.

Shortly after 9 a.m., Finley was found in the backyard of a woman's home about a half-mile southeast of the search area. The homeowner's dog had apparently noticed something in the backyard, by a pool.

We're told Finley is being taken for veterinary care due to being hungry, thirsty and tired, but the service dog appears to be OK otherwise.
