Group of Pa. Hikers Rescued In Eastern Ky.

Posted: Updated:

Officials say 40 Pennsylvania college students on a mission trip to Appalachia were rescued from Pine Mountain after they got lost while hiking.

John Caroulis, a spokesman for La Salle University in Philadelphia, said one student remained in the hospital Friday morning as a precaution, but the rest of the group was released and all are expected to return as scheduled Saturday.

Caroulis said the students were spending their spring break in Kentucky with Habitat for Humanity.

Kentucky State Police trooper Tony Watts says the group was reported missing about 7 p.m. Thursday. It was unclear how long it took to rescue them.
