Prank 911 Calls Targeting Kensington Neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
East Kensington, PA -

Residents in East Kensington say they're fed up,  frustrated and scared. They say  a prankster is putting their lives on the line, phoning in fake calls to 911.

It's called swatting and It's happened to Hollywood stars like Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardasian.

The prankster makes a threatening call to 911 tying to trick police into raiding an innocent person's home.

"I started having police show up at my  door with random calls. Someone saying there was domestic violence and  guns out windows," explained Sean Dundon.

The East Kensington resident is  no star, but he says he's been targeted by 911 pranksters since January. The problem so bad he filed a police report saying he's been targeted 30 times.

"I  have a roommate that was ready to move out because of it. He freaked out everyday because everyday cops were at our house. It's unnerving. "

"In the past month I've seen probably seen the police ten or twenty times responding to fake 911 calls," said neighbor Pat Caterina.

Police confirm there have been a series of calls on the  East Kensington block.

Dundon and his neighbors are  satisfied by prompt and pleasant police response.

But they're worried what will happens if there's a real emergency.

"We're  disabled and if something happens they might not come that
fast because they've been here so many times," worried Caterina.
