Job Seekers Find New Ways To Get Work

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The nation's unemployment rate now stands at 7.7 percent after the U.S. Labor Department announced companies added 236,000 jobs last month.

The unemployment rate stands at its lowest in four years.

But how that relates to today's job market has changed over time.

Financial expert Gene Marks appeared on the FOX 29 News at 5 p.m. Sunday to discuss some of the new ways job seekers are finding work.

Marks says many people have turned to contract work. Below, we've listed the links to three recommended by Marks:

 - elance.com

 - guru.com

 - odesk.com

Marks says some of the most in-demand skills can be found in the technology, healthcare, and sales fields.

If you're someone who is looking to learn some new skills, Marks recommends several resources.

 - Community College of Philadelphia

 - Small Business Administration

 - Pennsylvania Workforce Development
