How Exactly Will The Papal Conclave Work?

Posted: Updated:
VATICAN CITY -

There is excitement all over Rome as the cardinals get ready to elect the next pope.

They will wrap up their final meetings Monday at the Vatican and begin the conclave Tuesday.

The conclave will begin with morning mass and the first and only round of voting in the afternoon.

On Sunday, the cardinals took time off from their discussions to celebrate mass at churches throughout Rome.

Given that there is no clear frontrunner, many are speculating how long the cardinals will be locked behind closed doors.

Some think the new pope will be elected within about two days, although this can be hard to predict.

But how exactly will the conclave work? For the answer, we went live to the Vatican, where FOX 29's Iain Page is covering the story.

Later, during his 8 a.m. report, Iain had more on the front-runners for the papacy. You can watch that report by clicking on the second video clip.
