TRENTON, N.J. -

A Pennsylvania prison inmate was sentenced to 30 months after pleading guilty to sending a threatening note to a U.S. district judge in Philadelphia.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, 22-year-old William Brown admitted writing the letter and sending it. In the expletive-filled letter, the FBI says Brown threatened the judge's life and smeared his own fecal matter on it before sending it to the judge.

Brown is currently serving a life sentence in prison on a 2011 conviction for first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Investigators say he sent the letter from his prison cell.
