Riot outside precinct in Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A vigil for a teen shot dead by police turned violent in East Flatbush, Brooklyn on Monday night.

A group threw bottles at police in the area of East 52nd Street near Church Avenue.

More than 100 people took part in the vigil. The unruly group reportedly broke away from a march toward the 67th Police Precinct and overturned garbage cans. A fruit and vegetable stand outside a bodega was also knocked over.

Video from the scene showed damage to a Rite Aid and an MTA bus.

The crowd eventually dispersed late Monday.   Riot police remained on the scene Tuesday morning.

The vigil for Kimani Gray, 16, took place after he was shot by two plainclothes police officers on Saturday night.

The NYPD says Gray adjusted his waistband in a suspicious way just as the two officers got out of their unmarked car. The teen then turned on the officers and pointed a .38 caliber gun, police reported.

Gray died at Kings County Hospital.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
