Cops: Video shows woman encouraging beating

Posted: Updated:

OSWEGO, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say a 40-year-old woman has been charged after a video posted on Facebook showed her encouraging a girl to beat another girl.

Police in Oswego say Aimie Loughrey was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment after they learned Monday that someone had recorded Sunday's fight with a cellphone and posted the video on the social network website.

Officials say the victim and her mother reported the street-corner beating to police Sunday night.

Police say the video shows a girl repeatedly being beaten up by another girl while a woman encourages the fight and taunts the victim. Officials aren't saying whether either girl is related to Loughrey.

Loughrey was ordered to appear in Oswego City Court on March 28. A call to her Oswego home Wednesday morning went unanswered.
