Newark Mayor Cory Booker, 43, defends his record against recent critics who say he's spending too much time outside of the Brick City courting celebrities and attending star-studded events.

The second term mayor spoke with GDNY on Tuesday.

"People will always say negative things about you. You've got to focus on the city. Thirty percent of all of New Jersey's development is going on in Newark. Crime is down and the budget is balanced. We have our first downtown hotel in 40 years.... I'm really excited. We've turned the corner. We have a lot more work to do," said Booker.
