CHANDLER, Ariz. -

There was a pretty big splash at a Chandler lake that welcomes hundreds of pounds of fish.

13,600 pounds of catfish were dumped into different lakes across the valley. People gathered at Desert Breeze Lake in Chandler to get a first look.

The fish were brought by truck from Arkansas, and at about 6 pounds each, fisherman are anxious to cast their reels and get a big catch.

It was an event that many across the valley were waiting for.

"Close to 60,000 people enjoy this fishing program. It is the largest of its kind in the nation. Our motto is if people can't get to the fish we bring fish to the people."

A total of 15 lakes across the valley will be stocked with catfish.
