LIMERICK, Pa. -

Investigators announced Thursday the arrest of man who they say was driving under the influence when his car crossed a Royersford road and struck a jogger earlier this month in Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, Justin Jackson was arrested on charges that included homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.

Investigators say Jackson's car crossed North Lewis Road on March 4 and struck a jogger from behind, killing her. The car kept going until it struck a utility pole, investigators said.

Police say Jackson was texting while driving. Tests conducted after the accident revealed he had marijuana in his system, according to investigators.

The jogger, Merinda Thompson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was catapulted into a nearby parking lot after she was hit.

According to police, investigators discovered a marijuana pipe and marijuana inside of his car.
