3 Dead Including Suspect After Shooting At Marine Base In Va.

Posted: Updated:

A gunman shot and killed two other Marines at a military base in Quantico, Va., overnight before turning the gun on himself, authorities say.

We have learned that the suspected gunman killed one male and one female colleague.

It began around 11 p.m. A base spokesman initially described the situation as a standoff, but they have now clarified that after the first victim was shot, police had the shooter "isolated" in a barracks dorm room.

Police believe the shooter was a staff member at the officer candidate school at the base.

A base spokesman says they do not know what prompted the shooting.
