JONESBORO, Ark. -

Some people will do a lot of things for love, but one man took it a little too far.

Police say while a couple was walking through Craighead Forest Park on a date, a man with a large knife jumped out of the bushes.

The woman ran away and the man stayed behind to fight off the attacker. His wrist and chest were cut in the process.

Authorities later learned that the "attacker" was a friend of the man and the attack was nothing more than an elaborate hoax.

That was obviously the couple's last date.
