OAK PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

There are thousands of children in Michigan waiting to be adopted.  They are kids who have entered the foster care system.  Many will wait for years for a forever family.  Recently, we had a chance to meet one very special young lady with a terrific personality, who is hoping for a place to call home.

15-year-old Teaunna is is passionate about many things, including books, animals, and shopping, but when it comes to food, there is one thing she loves more than anything else.

"I love cheesecake.  It's my favorite food," she said.

Teaunna loves to cook and bake, and whether it is in the kitchen or in life, she thinks it is important to be able to take care of yourself.

"Not everybody has somebody there to cook to them, so you have to learn to survive on your own," she said.

Teaunna is a strong, confident girl with a great sense of humor.  She is bright, articulate and compassionate.  She loves kids and hopes to be adopted by a family with children so she can have brothers and sisters.  She has a lot to offer.

"I'll give them a loving daughter that gets good grades, stays out of trouble, like the perfect daughter, even thought there's nobody perfect," she said.  "They could provide me with just everything I need -- love, compassion, sympathy."

Teaunna said she is looking for a loving, nurturing family, who will look out for her best interests and will always be there for her.

Teaunna is positive about the future.  She wants to go to college and study theater arts.  She wants to be actress, run a business and, most important, have a family.

"I can juggle.  I'm a multitasker.  Sometimes I can do more than one thing at once," she said.

Teaunna is more than just a sweet girl with a sweet tooth.  She is a hard worker with a great outlook on life.  She plans to work hard and make sure her future will be as sweet as her favorite dessert.

To find out how you can make Teaunna a part of your family, call the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange at 800-589-6273 or visit www.mare.org.
