Buffalo Grove break-ins increase, residents warned: Alert

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

In the wake of a recent spate of residential burglaries, police in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove are telling residents to be alert for suspicious noises, vehicles or people around their homes.

Buffalo Grove police say there have been seven residential burglaries in the village in February and March, most occurring during the afternoon and evening hours.

The burglars enter homes by breaking rear windows, prying back patio doors or forcing/kicking in the front doors of homes, taking jewelry, cash, laptop computers and iPads.

Police have increased marked and unmarked residential patrols and are utilizing a variety of community resources, while also exchanging information with area police departments that have experienced similar crimes.

Residents are being asked to call 911 immediately if they hear unusual noises, see suspicious vehicles or people, or observe unusual activity around their or neighbors' homes.
