BROOKLAWN, N.J. -

Police in Brooklawn, New Jersey are searching for the man who they say carjacked an 80-year-old woman Sunday outside of a Route 130 diner.

The woman, Catherine, was carjacked outside of the Metro Diner on Route 130 near Browning Lane Sunday morning.

The suspect, who police describe as a white man who is tall and thin with a pierced lip, was last seen driving northbound on Route 130. Police are searching for a gray 2008 Honda Accord with NJ plates that read "E87-AZD."

The woman told FOX 29's Dave Kinchen she had just finished eating with her family when she says the man approached her and violently forced her out of her car. The driver left with the woman's purse and cell phone still inside.

Police say the man had just tried to return nearly $20 worth of stolen items for cash at a nearby Rite Aid before carjacking Catherine. The suspect was captured on surveillance video obtained from inside of the store, police said. Investigators say it's possible the man was using her car as a getaway car.

Catherine injured her shoulder, knee and foot but did not go to the hospital.
