CAPE MAY, N.J. -

The U.S. Coast Guard says it has suspended its search for a missing 24-year-old fisherman after a boat capsized in the Delaware Bay.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard and New Jersey State Police were searching by air and in the water in an area described as being approximately 6 miles west of Cape May Point.

Two men, Chris Serra, 27, and Dave Wood, 25, were rescued but a third person, 24-year-old Josh Catlett of Port Norris, is still missing.

The Coast Guard says Serra and Wood were picked up by Good Samaritans aboard two fishing vessels, the Captain Brown and the Sandra Lee.

The Coast Guard says the 40-foot fishing boat they were in was dredging for crabs when it sank.

The Captain Brown radioed the Coast Guard of the incident, and both of the men who were rescued were placed in the care of medical crews after coming ashore at Coast Guard Station Cape May.

Charles Owens, the owner of one of the boats that rescued the fishermen, tells FOX 29 he saw them in the water and threw a floating ring out to help them. Owens says his crew member then jumped into the water.

"It feels good, but that's not why I did it," crew member Jonathan Alexander told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell. "I did it because he was going to die if I didn't do it."
