ROMULUS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say employees are returning to work at the General Motors engine plant in Romulus following an evacuation Friday morning.

Authorities say the evacuation came after receiving 911 calls about a man with a gun at the facility.

Romulus police Sgt. Corey Sadler tells The Associated Press that officers responded to the General Motors Co. engine plant after the calls about 6:10 a.m. Friday. He says police spoke with the man and cleared everyone else from the facility before taking him into custody about 6:50 a.m.

GM said in a statement its management "took the right precautions."

Sadler says no injuries were reported. He says the man may have wanted to harm himself, so he'll likely be referred for evaluation.

Sadler says officers gave the OK for people to return to the plant, which employs hundreds and makes six- and eight-cylinder engines.
