A Scottsdale Police officer was taken to a hospital after a suspect rammed into his police car early Tuesday morning.

According to officers, 18-year-old Luis Cardenas refused to stop for Phoenix Police earlier in the night and was eventually spotted on the Loop 101.

The Scottsdale officer and a DPS officer got close to Cardenas near 70th Street and Palm Lane when he turned off into an alley.

Officers say Cardenas then hit the officer's car and drove up onto the hood.

At that point, the DPS officer shot into Cardenas' windshield, but didn't hit him.

Cardenas was taken into custody and booked on an aggravated assault charge

The Scottsdale officer was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
