FLORENCE, Ariz. -

Pinal County authorities say they've seized more than two dozen dogs and other animals from a home south of Maricopa, near the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

The county sheriff's animal care and control officers say the animals were kept in a double-wide manufactured home on a large rural lot.

The owners couldn't provide proof of vaccinations and wouldn't allow officers to examine the premises.

Investigators say many of the animals weren't allowed outside and the home's floors were soaked with urine and its walls were heavily damaged.

Officers seized 26 dogs, many with skin conditions or facial deformities.

They also seized 30 gerbils, some with broken legs; nine roosters, all with mite infestations; one extremely overweight potbellied pig, and one goat with lesions on its front knees from walking on them because its hooves were overgrown.

The seized animals are not available for adoption yet. The property was condemned to occupancy, unless the homeowner takes specific actions.

From the property, PCSO also seized marijuana and a shot gun.
