Scottsdale woman who crossed 1 minute before blasts tells story

Posted: Updated:

A Scottsdale woman crossed the finish line of the Boston marathon about a minute before the first bomb went off. She is ok and is back home in the valley tonight.

Lisa Ann Kravetz was looking so forward to her first Boston marathon. She had just finished and was about to go find her husband who she thought was waiting for her at the finish line when she heard the first blast.

The first bomb went off at 4:09:50. Lisa Kravetz finished the marathon in 4 hours and 8 minutes. She wasn't far from the first blast.

"I turned around and saw the white billowing smoke behind us," says Kravetz.

After the first bomb, Kravetz says everyone looked around and seemed a little confused after until the second panic.

"Everybody was screaming, saying run and we all just started running and it was very chaotic. Very scary very frightening."

"The only thing I could think of is Gary my husband was at the finish line and I had to get to my phone so I could call him. I had no idea where he was and I was in fear that he had been standing at the finish line waiting for me."

Kravetz's husband was waiting for her at the finish line. He snapped these photos. Those flags are the same ones seen in the horrible images of the aftermath.

Luckily, he decided to move just a few minutes before the blast.

"I keep saying I was right there for two and half hours. For whatever reason I moved. Thank God I moved," says Gary Kravetz.

As fate would have it -- a minute or two made all the difference.

"There is not a second that has gone by that I haven't thought about that for myself and my husband. It will be life changing for us."

I asked her if she'll go back for next year's marathon. She told me it's too early and the memories still too fresh to make that call.
