PHOENIX -

Senator Jeff Flake's office was evacuated for three hours while the FBI, police and hazmat teams investigated two suspicious envelopes.  As it turns out, they weren't a threat.

The two suspicious envelopes postmarked from Tennessee had no return address.

"They just told us to get out that Senator Flake had received a suspicious package and we had to evacuate the building," said Brian Snyder.

The building, which houses a bank and law officers was evacuated.

"For our safety, we are evacuating and leaving for the day," said Raelynn Davis.

Hazmat crews were sent in to test the two letters and no explosives or poisonous substances were found.

"The scene is safe at this time," said Tom Mangan of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Federal investigators tell us the letters were opened and did not have the same eerie message as the letters sent to the President and a Mississippi Senator.  Ironically, Flake talked about those letters on Tuesday, saying lawmakers are on high alert.

"It rarely gets to the members before it goes through a lot of staff..that's a big concern obviously for all of us," said Flake.

Sen. John McCain asked office staff not to open mail right now.  Police were also called out to Rep. Kyrsten Sinema's office for a suspicious package that turned out to be bagels.

"People are scared and that's what they want..they want us to be scared," said Rosario Beck, the building manager.  "It's done..we need to continue back to work and do what we do best."

Three people were taken to an area hospital as a precaution.  We're told they were checked out and are okay.
