It was the work of an alert bank teller who helped lead police in Bristol Township to three men who officers say kidnapped seven people and held them for ransom.

Three men are in custody after Bristol Township police say they attempted to force a man to withdraw thousands of dollars from his bank account Monday and then held him and six others for ransom.

According to a police arrest affidavit released Monday, officers responded to the PNC bank in Bristol in the morning on the report of a customer who claimed he was in danger.

Investigators say they were informed by a bank teller that a man had claimed he was being forced to withdraw $80,000 from his bank account. The teller told investigators she allowed him to withdraw $1,500 and then called police.

Investigators say the victim had just recently received a cash life insurance award after his mother died.

Officers managed to trace the victim, and a woman, to the Levittown Trace Apartments on the 3000 block of Ford Road. Investigators say a total of four adults and three children were held overnight in the apartment for nine hours.

At the time, officers said they were told the suspects were allegedly armed with guns and were demanding money from the bank.

Two officers in an unmarked car spotted the suspects, police said. After a brief chase, police say two men were arrested, 21-year-old Daesean Smith and 18-year-old Dennis Redding. Hours later, police say 38-year-old Orlando McNeil was arrested.

Officers found two handguns and the cell phones of two of the victims after the chase, according to the affidavit.

The victims said the men barged into their apartment, duct taped them, made them take off their clothes and held them hostage for nine hours until the bank transaction had occurred, police said.

The victims were not seriously injured.

A neighbor of the apartment where the kidnapping happened told FOX 29's Chris O'Connell she heard nothing overnight. She described the building as usually being quiet.
