(FOX 11) The city of Santa Monica is considering a proposal to restrict those outdoor group fitness classes at city parks and beaches. The city council developed a proposed system of new "regulations for non-City sponsored fitness instruction, classes or camps offered in parks and the beach."
The parks and recreation commission will recommend to the city council that they pay attention to the concerns of neighborhood residents. One such recommendation is a ban on group training at city parks with more than two clients.
This arrives on the heels of complaints from local residents that the fitness groups are perhaps growing out of control with overall fitness class sizes, local traffic issues and tourism.
