Authorities have charged three men with hindering the investigation into the deadly Boston Marathon bombing. All three men are college friends of accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Two are students originally from Kazakhstan, one is a U.S. citizen, according to authorities.

The suspects face charges related to providing assistance to Dzkokhar Tsarnaev after the bombing, FOX News reported.

Azamat Tazhayakov, 19, and Dias Kadyrbayev, 19, had been held on visa violations. Shackled and handcuffed, they appeared in court Wednesday and waived bail. Their next court appearance is set for May 14.

Kadyrbayev and Tazhayakov are suspected of taking computers and a backpack containing fireworks from Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's apartment and trying to dispose of them after the bombings, according to an affidavit filed with a criminal complaint.

Boston attorney Linda Cristello represented them and confirmed they now face separate federal charges.

They have been held in county jail for more than a week after they allegedly violated their student visas while attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with Tsarnaev, one of the main suspects.

The third suspect has been identified as Robel Phillipos, an American citizen. He is accused of lying to investigators after the bombing, according to the affidavit.

The Boston Police Dept. made the announcement about their arrests via the department's Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

There is no threat to the public, added police.

Two bombs exploded on April 15 as runners were crossing the finish line about four hours into the marathon.

Three people were killed and more than 260 were injured. Many lost limbs.

Investigators believe brothers Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, were responsible for carrying out the attacks.

U.S. officials have been trying to determine if Tamerlan Tsarnaev was indoctrinated or trained by militants in Russia where he spent six months in recent years.

The Tsarnaev brothers are Russian natives. The younger Tsarnaev became a naturalized citizen a year after the 9/11 terror attacks.

The older of the brothers was killed during a gunfire exchange with police. Dzhokhar remains hospitalized after suffering gunshot wounds.

Earlier Wednesday, the Daily Mail reported a letter written to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012 by officials in Saudi Arabia warned ofTamerlan Tsarnaev's ties to extremism.

The "government to government" letter was very specific and warned that "something was going to happen in a major U.S. city." It named Tamerlan, reported the Daily Mail.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
