The Pistons are in the market for a Head Coach and embarking on a very important offseason, Thursday night we found out that they will call upon the expertise of one of the games all-time greats to help out. Owner Tom Gores announced that the team has hired Phil Jackson as an adviser.
In a story on NBA.com Gores said "Phil Jackson is a friend and one of the best minds in the business. We are thrilled to have him as an adviser as we make some very important decisions for this franchise. Joe (Dumars) and I discussed this and he and I are in full agreement that this is a great opportunity."
Jackson won 11 titles as a Head Coach in Chicago and Los Angeles.
Dumars said "Tom and I discussed using a consultant as part of our decision-making process in our search for a head coach and we feel that Phil Jackson is a great resource to use. I look forward to talking with Phil next week."
This week the Pistons reportedly have interviewed Lindsey Hunter and Nate McMillan about the opening. They also are expected to make some major changes to their roster with more than 20 million dollars of room under the salary cap.
