The NYPD is investigating a major security breach at the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. The flags had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes. The American flags that are normally up at the bridge appeared to have been removed.

LEHI, Utah -- A dog run over by three front runner trains is alive.

The vet calls it miraculous, while the owners say it's all thanks to a dog lover who pulled the Jack Russell Terrier from the tracks.

Chewie the dog ran through the electric dog fence in his back yard -- something he'd done before, but his owners say he usually stayed close to home, but this time, he ran more than a mile away toward the train tracks.

The first train hit him straight on, the second just grazed him and the third went over the top of him.

A UTA workers who saw the whole thing tried to stop the other trains, but couldn't signal them in time.

Amazingly, the dog is now recovering at a veterinary clinic.

"He's been through a lot of treatments to stabilize him to get his seizures under control. To patch the fractures in his head. To get is little body strong again. He's been in an out of an oxygen chamber. Seems like a lot to put a little dog through, but he's like a part of our family," said Chewie's owner, David Babcock.

The family is asking people to donate to Salt Lake County Animal Services for the free care they gave or to the Utah Veterinary Center for their efforts in saving Chewie's life.

The Jack Russell Terrier is expected to lose an eye, but his owners doubt that will slow him down very much.
