SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race brings out the best in all of our sports teams, and once again this year all teams will be represented on yachts that make the trip.

The Tigers, Pistons, Lions and Red Wings will be paired up with yachts in the Pro Team Challenge, but Wednesday the most memorable moment came from Fox 2 Sports Director Dan Miller as he shared a story about former Pistons' Bad Boy Rick Mahorn from earlier in their respective careers.

"Here I am this young reporter trying to do everything right, and here this big, talented guy would come over, worked hard during the game, played hard, and he'd come over, and he'd sit down on the bench, and he'd grab a towel, and he'd wipe off, then he'd grab a tissue, and he'd blow his nose, and he'd take the tissue, and he'd throw it at the young reporter. So let me just say this.  This is personal.  It's taken 30 years, Rick, but it's now go-time," Miller said.

The Red Wings have had the winning edge, but with Mahorn representing the Pistons and Miller backing the Lions, changes could be coming this year.

"If they're going to bring this thing home, it's going to be the man with the captain's hat that's going to get this done. So that's really the job here.  It's about winning," Miller said.

"Are you pulling a Merrill Stubing?  You're going to have a captain's hat on?" I asked.

"This isn't the Love Boat.  This would be more like the Caddyshack boat.  I think I'm more the Ted Knight type of captain, if you will," Miller replied.

"It's all about the wind.  If I get the right crew, get the wind right, get the sails up quickly, we should get a win out of this," Mahorn said.

"Is it a weight issue because if it is maybe you should get off the boat," I said.

"I've never been on a boat, and I'm not going to get on the boat.  That's for them little guys.  I'm too tall to be on a boat," Mahorn responded.

The Bell's Bayview Mackinac Pro Team Challenge takes place on July 20.
