Missing Bucks County Woman's Remains Finally Found

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN, N.J. -

Two-and-a-half years after she was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by her former boyfriend, Diane Corado's body has been found and positively identified.

Her alleged killer led authorities to a creek bed in Camden recently, authorities say.

"I can't imagine. I couldn't even imagine it. Just talking about it you get that lump in your throat, you know," said Joanne Carr of Levittown.

"That kind of brings resolution to the situation. They know that's she's dead. They know where she is," a former neighbor told FOX 29.

Word that Corado's remains had finally been found brought a sense of relief to her former neighbors at the Village of Pennbrook Apartments.

"That's good closure for the family. Good to hear that," said Howard Phelps, who now lives right next door to Corado's old apartment.

"My cousin's the one that told me she lived right next door. It affected her. She actually moved. She was afraid for her life," Carr said.

Police say the 57-year-old Corado and her girlfriend were kidnapped from her apartment in Levittown back in December 2010 by her ex-boyfriend Kenneth Patterson. He released Corado's girlfriend, but days later Corado's bloody car was discovered in Camden. She was nowhere to be found.

"It does bring peace to a lot of people, especially us, because we live right next door," said Tracey Evans.

Patterson was arrested and charged with kidnapping and eventually with murder. He remains behind bars in Bucks County without bail. Several weeks ago, he gave police the location where he allegedly dumped her body, the Newton Creek in Camden.

"At least it's over. They now know. They know what happened. You're always wondering -- wondering all the time," Carr said.

Patterson is set to stand trial for murder in July. He could face the death penalty.

"Thank God they have him locked up. He deserves to be locked up," Evans said.

"He's gonna get what he deserves now," Phelps added.

The Corado family did not want to comment Thursday. There was no word on why Patterson suddenly had a change of heart and cooperated with investigators in locating the body. He goes on trial on July 8.
