12-Year-Old Shooting Victim's Mom Relives Horror

Posted: Updated:
Camden, NJ -

With his mother watching and waving as it landed, 12-year-old Ibn Anderson was airlifted back to Camden's Cooper Hospital.

Police say his 11-year-old friend accidentally shot him in the face with a .38 caliber gun they were checking out after finding it in Ibn's house.

"It was very horrifying," screeched Ibn's mother Zakiyyah.

She says she was walking her 10-year-old daughter to the bus stop for school Friday morning when she heard the cry for help.

"My oldest daughter runs out and said, mommy! Mommy! There's an emergency.

Anderson says she raced back to her Camden home on Hunter Street where she was met by Ibn's frantic 11-year-old friend.

"He was like Ms. Zakiyyah I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I  accidentally shot
Ibn."

Anderson found her son inside her home, with blood pouring from his face.

"I saw this hole on the side of his face. He said I've been shot and that's when I went hysterical."

Ibn is a praise dancer at Centerville Outreach Ministries.
Pastor Patience Rivers calls the shooting a case of something bad happening to a good kid.

"He's very likeable and curious. He studies the  bible. He's one of my better
students in Bible Study.

Late into the evening state authorities returned to Hunter street to  investigate.

Sources say Ibn's 19-year-old brother was the only adult home at the time of the shooting.

Anderson says  she knew nothing about the gun inside her home.

Police are still trying to determine who the gun belongs to and if it's even legal.

So far no charges have been filed.

They've questioned the 11-year-old and released him to his parents.

Investigators are still waiting to talk to the 19-year-old brother and Ibn who's recovering at

Cooper.
