BATAVIA, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman was killed in a crash with a garbage truck as she pulled out into traffic in west suburban Geneva on Wednesday morning.

About 6 a.m. a woman driving a 2002 Saturn pulled out from a private drive onto the 200 block of East Fabyan Parkway, near its intersection with Nagel Boulevard, attempting to go west, according to Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash. As the car entered onto Fabyan Parkway, it was struck by a garbage truck traveling eastbound.

The car was heavily damaged and the driver, 23-year-old Monica L. Warner of North Aurora, had to be extricated, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver of the garbage truck was treated at the scene, then taken to Delnor Community Hospital, police said.

The accident is under investigation by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team in conjunction with Geneva police. It was unknown as of late Wednesday morning if any charges or citations would be filed.

Geneva police had advised drivers to avoid Fabyan Parkway between Kirk Road and Route 25, but by about 10:50 a.m. the roadway had been reopened to traffic.
