Fulton County Sheriff's Office welcomes new K-9s

Posted: Updated:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

A special ceremony welcomed some  new four-legged recruits to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office on Thursday.

Sheriff Ted Jackson officially inducted the newest members of the K-9 unit, Zoom and Duke.

These two male black labs, both five years old, are U.S. Marine vets trained for detecting explosives and shell casings.

The sheriff recited an oath committing the animals and their handlers to serve with the bomb unit.

The K-9's are fresh off nine weeks of training to transition from military to law enforcement and to bond with the handlers.

In the military, the dogs worked off-leash, but will be on leash for duties working with deputies.
