NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - Federal agents intercepted more than 2,300 pounds of marijuana following a traffic stop in Nogales.
Special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations seized some of the drugs Wednesday after stopping a cargo van for a traffic violation in an area known for smuggling.
A search of the van turned up 12 boxes containing more than 930 pounds of marijuana. The van's two occupants were arrested.
Information provided by the suspects led agents to a warehouse, where a search led to the seizure of an additional 1,370 pounds of marijuana. A third person was arrested at the warehouse.
Authorities say drug trafficking charges are currently pending against all three suspects as the investigation continues.
