MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Fun fact: Areas of Minnesota and western Wisconsin saw up to 14 inches of snow about 20 days ago.

On Sunday, however, severe thunderstorms marched through, bringing dark clouds, heavy rain and strong winds.

The deluge created an obstacle for drivers as the water quickly covered roads.

The wind, which saw gusts of over 60 mph, also snapped trees in Maplewood, leaving toppled branches on top of parked cars.

SUNDAY FORECAST

Explosive storm development was seen throughout afternoon, producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rain.

By Sunday night, the severe weather threat had largely rained itself out; however, additional storms are likely to return overnight.

Stay sky aware!

FLASH FLOOD WATCH

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. Monday. Until the area of low pressure moves to our east on Tuesday, we could see some strong storms again on Monday.
