PPA Responds To Officers Caught On Camera In No Stopping Zone

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The Philadelphia Parking Authority is taking some heat over a video, emailed to us and posted on YouTube.

It shows two PPA officers sitting in their truck, which is parked in a "no stopping anytime" zone.

When confronted, the officers say they're eating lunch but refuse to answer any questions about why they're allowed to park there, when other cars in the area were ticketed.

FOX 29 News contacted the parking authority about the video.

PPA spokesman Marty O'Rourke tells us the truck you see in the video contains cash from parking meters, so the employees aren't allowed to leave it.

He says they were allowed to park in the no stopping zone to eat their lunch.

O'Rourke also tells FOX 29 the general public is given a 20 minute grace period – even in no stopping anytime zones – as long as they're in their car.
