TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

Police busted out the tasers after a llama went on the lam.

After residents in the area called authorities about the llama on the loose, police arrived at the scene and attempted to corner the 6 foot tall animal and force him into a trailer.

"Last night, about 11:00 we started getting  calls about a llama running through Killearn Lakes and on Bannerman road.  There was some sightings but we were never able to get our hands on it," said Tony Drzewiecki of the Leon County Sheriff's office.

But the llama became angered and spit in the officers' faces.

"I didn't believe it until I saw it and I was like wow...where  did that thing come from?" said Julie McDaniel, an area resident.

That's when they decided to resort to using a taser to subdue the llama.

"I've been doing this 20 years and they said there is going to  be a lot of excitement in this job, but no one ever told me I would get spit  in the face by a llama and trampled by one," said Drzewiecki.

Afterwards, the animal was returned to his owner.

The owner faces no citations or fines for his pet getting loose.
