Meet The Woman Behind Emily's Entourage

Posted: Updated:

As 10 year-old Sarah Murnaghan waits for a lung transplant to save her life, a lot of conversation has turned to cystic fibrosis.

This disease affects 30,000 in the United States and 70,000 worldwide.  It is a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system.

Currently, there is no cure and the life expectancy of CF is mid to late 30's.

One person who knows this all to well is Emily Kramer-Golinkoff.  Emily is 28 and has lived with CF her entire life. She was diagnosed at just 6 weeks old.

Two years ago, she founded Emily's Entourage, and to date she has raised hundreds of dollars.

This morning, Emily joined Good Day's Mike and Karen to share her story.

Emily is a graduate of UPENN and has an advanced degree in bioethics.  She explained that one of her biggest limitations is how she uses her energy, since, on her best day, her lungs are functioning at 37%.  She works daily on keeping her lungs clear of fluid.

Emily, her family and her friends started Emily's Entourage in December of 2011.   The purpose of her organization is raise fund and awareness for CF.

Please watch the interview and make sure you visit Emily's Entourage's facebook page.
