SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Jury selection began on Monday in the trial of Tucker Cipriano and Mitchell Young. The judge also issued a gag order.

Cipriano and Young are accused of brutally beating Cipriano's father to death in April of 2012.

Cipriano's mother and two siblings have been subpoenaed to testify. One is only nine years old. Cipriano's uncle is pleading with Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper to let Cipriano plead guilty to second-degree murder so that the family can avoid the pain of a trial.

However, Cooper says this is a first-degree murder case and it must be tried as such.

The prosecution also asked for a gag order, in particular because Cipriano's uncle talked in the media about wanting Cooper to offer a plea deal. The judge was not happy and granted the prosecution's request.

"The witnesses are going to be precluded from discussing this with anybody, period," said Mitchell McCarthy, Young's attorney. "That means among one another and with any family member or friend that they may have. So that order is going to be effective as soon as the judge signs it, and that will be before this day is done."

Jury selection in this case will continue on Wednesday and could last the remainder of this week, in which case testimony would probably start early next week.
