Former Simi Valley Teacher Arrested For Sex Crimes With Student

She is described as an exemplary teacher, and a loving mother of two...

She is being held on two million dollars bail for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a boy under the age of fourteen.

Parents and school officials at garden grove elementary impact academy can't fathom it.

32 year old Malia Brooks has been a sixth grade teacher here since 2004.

Now she is being charged with five sexual counts, including one of lewd acts upon a child, another one of oral copulation of a person under fourteen, and three other counts of genital penetration by foreign object, again with a person under fourteen.

Her attorney reportedly saying -she is suffering from a mental illness and is receiving treatment.

But she did plead not guilty today in court...

she was put on administrative leave at the end of February, but did not resign until June 5th,  a week before her coordinated arrest at the Simi Valley Police Station.

Her bail has been set at two million dollars.

Investigators believe there is just one victim, involved in the "relationship " ( their words ) between January and February of this year.

An all-too-familiar turn of events…a former Simi Valley grade school teacher is facing sex crime charges. The mother of two is alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

32-year old Garden Grove Elementary School teacher Malia Brooks, has been arrested with bail set at $2 million dollars. Allegations first surfaced at the school three months ago, prompting the arrest.
